To all of Ralph’s supporters: Your work and enthusiasm for Ralph’s candidacy has carried this campaign. Without the consistent support of volunteers, donors, and every one of you who talk to your friends and neighbors about Ralph, we would not have been successful to this point.

As we close in on the last 10 days of the race, there is still much that you can do to get Ralph elected, and we can take absolutely nothing for granted in this election.

When: Weekdays between October 15 through November 5
Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Utah Department of Natural Resources (1594 West North Temple)
When: Weekdays between October 23 through November 2
Hours: 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 2)

On election night, we’ll be gathering upstairs at Squatters starting at 8:30 on November 6th. Join Ralph and the rest of the campaign staff and volunteers for a night of celebration. As we approach Election Day, the time for honk and waves are upon us. I know it sounds silly to stand on street corners with big Ralph Becker signs and waving at complete strangers, but honk and waves actually serve a purpose. We’re rallying the troops, energizing Becker supporters and reminding them to go out and vote November 6th. Honk and waves are not only worthwhile they are also (dare I say?) fun!

So join us for one (or more) of our honk and waves. They are a fun, energizing way to start, or end, your day.

On Saturday, over fifty volunteers - most on behalf of Equality Utah - took to the streets in support of Ralph’s bid to become Salt Lake City’s next mayor. It was an amazing show of civic engagement, participation in grassroots politics, and consumption of an inordinate number of Banbury Cross doughnuts.

Mike, Keri, and Will - thanks so much for your work in corralling so many volunteers for a Saturday morning walk! And to all of you who got up early to walk for Ralph: you are truly inspiring.

Ralph Becker’s campaign received a big financial boost on Friday, thanks to a phone-a-thon that raised $56,365 in just seven hours. Equally impressive was that participants called their own friends and family to ask for contributions. In several cases, this was the first time that individuals had ever given to a political campaign.

Former State Senator Karen Hale, who participated in the event, said, “I think this shows how passionate Ralph’s supporters are. You can’t manufacture that kind of enthusiasm for a candidate. Because Ralph is a genuine person with an inspirational vision for the city, asking my friends and family to support him was easy.”

The original goal for the phone-a-thon was $50,000. “We thought setting a goal of $50,000 was very ambitious,” said Becker. “You can only imagine how thrilled we are with the final results. I want to thank everyone who was involved in this event for their commitment and support.”

The list of phone-a-thon callers was also noteworthy because it included a wide variety of participants. Callers ranged from well-known community leaders likes, Karen Shepard, Paula Julander, Eric Jergensen, David Litvack and Frank Pignanelli to lesser-known citizens like Carolyn Connell, a math professor at Westminster College, and Jon Weisberg, a local public relations professional.

“It is through events like this, where I see how passionate the people of Salt Lake City are about the future of our community,” said Becker. “By giving their time and resources to my campaign, they not only support me, but more importantly, they endorse our shared vision for Salt Lake City to become the next great American city.”
