(Salt Lake City) – The Salt Lake County Hispanic Democratic Caucus is
happy to announce its endorsement of Ralph Becker for Salt Lake City
Mayor.
“We are endorsing Ralph because we know as Salt Lake City’s next mayor
he will bring our city to new heights, new potential as yet
unrealized,” says Jorge Robles, Chair of the Salt Lake County Hispanic
Caucus. “Ralph has been known for being inclusive of our community
throughout his entire legislative career. He is an incredibly sincere
politician who carefully studies every issue. We share his vision of a
thriving West Side that is part of Salt Lake City’s great diversity.
“I very much appreciate receiving the endorsement of the Salt Lake
County Hispanic Caucus,” responded Ralph. “If elected mayor, I will
emphasize an inclusive approach to city government by reaching out to
all segments of our community to encourage full participation in city
decisions.”
Join Ralph and friends at a fundraiser for Bob this Saturday, September 22, 1-7PM. There will be a taco bar, polynesian food, and a silent auction and drawing.
Location: 5th Avenue, between F and G Street. Come by and show Bob your support.
Do you have a Keith or Jenny sign sitting in your garage after Election Day? Do you want a Ralph Becker sign? We’ll trade you! We’ll take your lawn sign from any other campaign, reuse the wood and deliver a new sign right to your door. Call us or email juli@ralphbecker.com.
After a night of celebrating and a day of constant press events, I’ve finally had a moment to reflect on the past few days, and I am floored by the outpouring of support that this campaign has received. As we prepared for last Tuesday, nobody at headquarters dared to speak out loud about the possibility of a win; but you could sense it in the way Nancy was grinning as she stuffed the thousandth envelope, or in the unprompted massive snack delivery by Polly, or by the fact that Denise had to come back at night to burn some nervous energy cleaning the entire downstairs. You could practically grasp in your fist the energy that was the culmination of nearly a year’s worth of sweat and shoulder tension and blisters. And when we came through Tuesday night….well, it was cathartic for everyone involved, to say the least.
It’s impossible to thank every single person for all that they have contributed to this movement so far. But we are still standing today because of a truly collective effort by so many individuals who, of their own accord, decided to volunteer. On behalf of Ralph and the staff, I offer our deepest thanks. Your efforts were absolutely the difference.
But as you all know, we are not done yet. We are eight weeks out, and after we all take a few moments to collectively breathe sigh of relief and to perhaps catch up on some sleep, it is imperative that we jump right back in.
This coming race is not, in any sense of the concept, going to be easy. We have much work to do, and we will continue to walk the streets, talk to voters about Ralph and his vision for Salt Lake City, and further develop and refine the Blueprints for a Great American City. It is about including and engaging people from all parts of this city, from all backgrounds, and from all perspectives.
This is your town - and this is an unprecedented opportunity for you to get involved in figuring out what it will look like. So I hope that you will join us for the next eight weeks as we continue to grow a Great American City.
David
