Mayor Becker is fiscally responsible, overcoming the largest budget gaps in the City’s history, without raising taxes, reductions in City services, or significant layoffs.

In response to community concerns, Mayor Becker successfully reorganized the Planning and Zoning Department.  In 2009, Salt Lake City voters overwhelmingly approved (66%) Mayor Becker’s proposal to build a new Public Safety Building.  He also received accolades for his handling of both Red Butte Oil Spills.
