During his first month in Office, Mayor Becker launched Salt Lake Solutions, a collaborative problem solving effort that integrates public and private solutions to community concerns.

In January 2009, Mayor Becker unveiled his transparency and open government initiative, aimed at providing documents and making Salt Lake City’s decision making process more transparent.  Since its initiation, the program has developed an Open Government Policy for the city, promoted public forums and outreach, published administration transmittals, and launched “open city hall.”  Mayor Becker has also been an advocate for extensive community involvement regarding the Public Safety Building, Alcohol Normalization, the Utah Performing Arts Center, Comprehensive Sustainability Ordinances, the City’s budget, and more.
