It has been a very busy two weeks - can it really be just two weeks since the inauguration?
People ask me about the perpetual smile on my face. I tell them that I can really see the possibilities of achieving our goals and more. We have a chance to make a difference.
The proposal for a City-Wide Domestic Partnership Registry has been sent to the Council. It is our first step in achieving equality, dignity and respect for all City Residents.
The steering committee is in place for Salt Lake Solutions. This project is a move towards collaborative government that facilitates a consensus-building model and public input model as community members integrate a “solutions approach” to City Government. I am really excited about this program – check back often for updates.
I have begun implementing City Works, an effort to make sure City Government is responsible, accountable and cost effective.
The City Employees Leadership Initiative project is targeted at enhancing the value of our employees.
All of these steps are outlined in my first State of the City Address. We are up and literally running.
I’m eager to hear your feedback and ideas. Please send me a note.
Warm regards,
Ralph
Presidential Politics
The race for the Presidency has started earlier and what exciting choices we have to vote for in 2008. For now, I’m staying out of the presidential race (as you know I supported Bill Richardson). Before I make any endorsement, I want to know directly the candidates’ positions as they relate to our Western perspective on Democratic politics. You will be the first to know when I do make an endorsement of a Presidential candidate and I will post it here. Until then, don’t believe what you may read in the papers.
